The Office of the Vice-Chancellor is delighted to announce a significant national endorsement of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD). Ayuba Simon-Peter John, one of Nigeria’s highest-performing candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has selected ABUAD as his first-choice institution to study Mechanical Engineering.
Ayuba, who hails from Gombe State, achieved an exceptional score of 374 out of 400, placing him as the nation’s second-highest scorer. This result was officially confirmed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during its 2025 Policy Meeting held in Abuja.
His choice of ABUAD over several long-established institutions stands as a powerful testament to the transformative vision and leadership of our revered Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, OFR, CON, SAN. It further cements ABUAD’s rising reputation as a premier destination for quality education, innovation, and global relevance.
Upon receiving the news before leaving the office on Tuesday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb, FCAI, extended a heartfelt message of congratulations to the Chancellor:
“Congratulations, Daddy, on yet another remarkable affirmation of your enduring legacy. May the good Lord preserve you in good health and strength to witness even greater accomplishments through your dream university.”
This achievement follows closely on the heels of ABUAD’s stellar performance in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, where the university was ranked 84th globally, 3rd in Africa, and 1st in Nigeria–a position it has proudly maintained for four consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024, and now 2025).
