The Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Professor Elisabeta Smaranda Olarinde, has announced the approval of a N77,000 minimum wage for staff, effective November 2024.
Presenting the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 Staff Assessment and Performance Evaluation Review (SAPER) Report, at the 15th-anniversary celebration of the institution’s academic activities on Monday (6th January, 2025), the Vice-Chancellor revealed that the Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, exceeded the Federal Government’s proposed N70,000 minimum wage by adding an additional 10%, showcasing his commitment to staff welfare.
She also praised the Founder for his unwavering generosity, which also included prompt payment of the 2024 yearly leave bonus and the distribution of Christmas gifts to all staff.
“To cap it all, the Founder ensured payment of the annual leave bonus for 2024 and made available the annual Christmas gift to all staff members. This generous decision, following the earlier salary adjustment, demonstrates the Founder’s deep commitment to the wellbeing of every staff member of ABUAD,” says the Vice-Chancellor.
According to her, during the period under review, 452 staff members, including 40 Professors and 46 Readers, were re-assessed across various colleges, underscoring the institution’s dedication to fostering excellence and rewarding hard work.
