In a bold stride towards strengthening its tradition of excellence, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) has expanded its world-class infrastructure with the completion of a brand-new male hostel, designed to accommodate 525 bed spaces.
The facility, which will open for use in the 2025/2026 Academic Session, is the latest addition to the university’s ever-growing array of student-friendly structures.
During an official inspection of the edifice on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Founder, Chancellor, and President of ABUAD, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, OFR, CON, SAN, described the project as another testimony to God’s faithfulness and the university’s unrelenting pursuit of global standards.
“I know how this place used to be before now, and look at how we have transformed it. I want to believe that the flow of water around this area has been thoroughly considered to avert any case of flooding in the future,” the legal luminary remarked while stressing the importance of a full students’ residential university.
Accompanied by his wife, Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola, FSM, FNIMN, the Chancellor offered prayers of thanksgiving for the successful completion of the hostel. He also sought God’s sustaining grace, provision, and protection over the new facility, the students, staff and the entire university community.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb, FCAI, thanked the Founder and his wife for their relentless commitment to ABUAD’s vision, noting that the university continues to stand as a model institution in Nigeria and beyond.
“You can see this massive project before us, singlehandedly conceived and executed by one man- our Founder and Funder.” she said with gratitude.
Handing over the project, the Director of Project and Physical Planning, Prof. Adeyinka Adeoye, confirmed that the hostel, with 139 rooms, has been completed and is fully equipped with modern amenities.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Yinka Ajiboye, speaking on behalf of students, lauded the university management for prioritising students’ welfare by constructing more hostel accommodations.
The inspection also had in attendance the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin), Prof. Olasupo Ijabadeniyi; the Registrar, Lady Christie Oluborode; and the Bursar, Pastor Modupe Joseph Babalola; among other top university management members.
With this addition, ABUAD not only reaffirms its place as a leader in private tertiary education but also underscores its Founder’s enduring vision of creating a model institution that competes favourably with the best in the world.
