Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti ABUAD’s, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Christopher Aina, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb, FCAI, on Friday presented certificates to participants of the recently concluded Molecular Techniques Workshop, held between May 26 and 30, 2025, at the university’s state-of-the-art Bogoro Research Centre.
Delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s remarks, Prof. Aina, expressed appreciation for the commitment and diligence of Prof. Pius A. Okiki, Provost of the College of Sciences and Head of ABUAD’s Biotechnology Centre. In his words: “I heartily congratulate you all for participating in this impactful workshop and we look forward to future collaborations that will help us sustain our position as a leading institution in research and university quality education.”
In his address, Prof. Pius Okiki commended the visionary leadership of ABUAD’s Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, OFR, CON, SAN, whose unwavering support and investment continue to propel the university’s research capabilities.
“We are grateful for the Chancellor’s readiness to provide both resources and encouragement for cutting-edge research,” Prof. Okiki said. “I urge you all to share the impactful experience you have had here so that more individuals would be inspired to participate in future workshops. What you have seen is just a glimpse, as we are expecting a new consignment of equipment.
The centre has already secured a batch of advanced microscopes to be installed by South African experts in the coming days.”
Participants, mostly research fellows in the fields of biology and molecular technology, spoke highly of the training, which they described as being “70% practical and 30% theoretical”. This is another expression of ABUAD’s mission in ensuring skill acquisition in modern fields of high marketability of our products.
“I have attended several workshops, but this one stands out from the hands-on training to the warm hospitality top-tier equipment and expert resource persons,”- Mrs. Abubakar Mulikat, a Chief Technologist at the University of Ilorin who was among the participants, added.
A total of 15 participants received certificates at the end of the five-day intensive training under the skillful, committed, and diligent coordinator- Prof. P.A. Okiki; marking the fourth edition in the workshop series hosted by ABUAD’s Biotechnology Centre.
Once again, on behalf of the management, we congratulate the successful participants, the dynamic team of ABUAD’s Biotechnology Centre and the highly resourceful personnel who conducted the training under the leadership of Prof. Okiki.
