Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), has been hailed as an institution with remarkable achievements, surpassing many much older universities in Nigeria and beyond within just 15 years of its establishment.
This commendation was made by the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), during a courtesy visit to ABUAD on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Accompanied by a powerful delegation made up of the FUOYE’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fashina, members of the Governing Council, and official of the Management Team
He added that his visit is in two fold, a personal visit to the Founder, and the other principal officers, Senator Ndoma-Egba, (SAN), stated that the purpose of their visit was to foster collaboration between the two institutions and to formally invite ABUAD to FUOYE’s convocation ceremony, scheduled for February 22, 2025.
“In fact, I am speechless. What I have seen here today is totally incredible. ABUAD has achieved in 15 years what several Universities took decades and generations to attain. I am here together with the Governing Council of FUOYE, to call for a collaboration and to officially invite you for our convocation ceremony,” Sen. Ndoma-Egba, added.
The Chancellor of ABUAD, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, SAN, expressed his gratitude for the visit, describing the Pro- Chancellor of FOUYE “as a divine gift”. He emphasized that both institutions would continue to collaborate in various ways, including through exchange programs for students, joint research projects, industry partnerships, and grant opportunities.
In her welcome address, ABUAD’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCAI, FCArb, warmly welcomed the FUOYE delegates, ably led by the distinguished Senator who resumed office as the Pro- Chancellor in November, 2024, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining its status as a benchmark for quality education in Nigeria, as recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“This is another opportunity for the two institutions to strengthen our cooperation, foster innovation, and enhance research. We have already partnered on several projects and will continue to work together to achieve even greater progress. We are here for Ekiti State, and we are here for Nigeria,” Prof. Olarinde stated. The Registrar of ABUAD, Lady Christie Oluborode, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to Senator Ndoma-Egba and his team for their visit. She assured them of continued collaboration to reshape and improve university education in Ekiti State and beyond.
