The auditorium of the ABUAD Multi-Systems Hospital (AMSH) resonated with songs of praise, scripture readings, and reflections on faith and humanity as the hospital community gathered for the 2025 Christmas Carol, a spiritually uplifting event that blended worship with thanksgiving for life, service, and compassion.
Addressing the gathering on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Professor E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb, FCAI, called on Nigerians and the global community to embrace love, unity, and selflessness as essential virtues for building a more humane and compassionate society.
Speaking at the AMSH auditorium, Professor Olarinde reminded the audience that Christmas is far more than a festive tradition; it is a sacred season firmly rooted in the redemptive love of God for humanity.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the management and staff of AMSH, under the leadership of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Akinola Akinmade, for what she described as an exceptionally productive year since the hospital’s establishment.
She noted that Dr. Akinmade’s leadership has been defined by priceless commitment to patient care and institutional growth, earning AMSH widespread commendation within Ekiti State and beyond.
“I called the CMD late last night, and from his voice it was clear that he was on the ward, a fact he later confirmed, revealing that he was working alongside other surgeons on a kidney transplant at the hospital. The AMSH story is one of service, sacrifice, and compassion,” she said, adding that the hospital continues to stand as a beacon of hope and healing, in line with the vision of the Founder and Chancellor of ABUAD, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, OFR, CON, SAN.
Drawing inspiration from Matthew 1:18–21, a brief exhortation was delivered by Dr. Philip Falae, who represented the ABUAD Chaplain, Rev. Victor Ariyo.
He emphasised that “there is no Christmas without Christ,” reminding the congregation that Jesus Christ came to redeem humanity from sin and restore mankind to God.
Dr. Falae charged the audience to reflect deeply on the true meaning of the season, urging them to live Christ-like lives marked by love, humility, and obedience. “Is there room for Christ in your heart? Do not forget that He will come again.”
Following the carol service, the Chief Medical Director and senior members of staff of AMSH, together with Father Christmas, led the Vice-Chancellor to the Crèche and the Maternity Ward, where gifts were shared in the spirit of the season.

In her closing remarks, the Director of Nursing Services, AMSH, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Olukolade, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God and to all who contributed to the success of the Christmas Carol. She disclosed that the 20th kidney transplant procedure was ongoing at the hospital at the very moment the Carol was taking place.
“This would not have been possible without the immeasurable sacrifice and unwavering commitment of Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola,” she added.
The 2025 AMSH Christmas Carol thus stood not only as a celebration of the birth of Christ, but as a living expression of faith in action, where worship, healing, sacrifice, and hope converged in service to humanity.
