The Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb, FCAI, has charged students to diligently pursue excellence in all their academic and personal endeavours.
Prof. Olarinde gave the charge on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, during the Orientation Programme organised for new students of the 2025/2026 Academic Session, held at ABUAD’s Alfa Belgore Hall.
According to her, the university under the visionary leadership of its Founder, Chancellor, and President, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola, OFR, CON, SAN has put in place all that is needed for both students and staff to thrive.
“At ABUAD, we promise to provide you with a nurturing environment, dedicated faculty, and fertile soil for learning and growth. But we cannot study for you. We cannot dream for you. We cannot define your success for you. You must take charge. Be intentional and driven,” she advised.
In her remarks, the Registrar, Lady Christie Oluborode, emphasized that the university’s rules and regulations are designed to help students succeed. She urged the new intakes to follow due process in course registration and ensure proper authentication with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
“You have made the right choice not just for your education, but for your future. It is a new dawn and the beginning of an exciting journey. Be determined to achieve excellence in all your endeavours,” she stated.
From admonitions on security, finance, health, faith, social conduct, and academics, the new students were encouraged to imbibe the spirit of Afeism, as enshrined in the university anthem.
Also in attendance were principal officers of the university, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Christopher Aina; Bursar, Pastor Modupe Babalola; University Librarian, Dr. Roselyn Subair; Acting Chief Security Officer, Lt. Col. Emmanuel Ogunlakin (Rtd.); and Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Oluwafemi Ogunmodede.
Meanwhile, a series of academic, social, religious, and sporting activities were lined up for the new students as the orientation programme continued until Friday, October 10, 2025.
