Today, we proudly join the global community in celebrating World Teachers’ Day 2025, under the inspiring theme: “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession.” This theme resonates strongly with the values and vision of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), where teaching and learning are not solitary acts, but a shared journey between teachers, students, and the wider society.
At ABUAD, we celebrate men and women of distinction whose daily commitment has propelled the university into the league of the best. Our story is one of collaboration and innovation: Through ABUAD Multi-System Hospital, College of Medicine and Health Science including our college of Pharmacy, our lecturers work alongside students and healthcare professionals in real-time problem-solving, a model of collaborative teaching that saves lives while shaping minds.
Across all our colleges, faculty and students co-design research projects that tackle national challenges ranging from food sufficiency to renewable energy, exemplifying the synergy between teaching and discovery. Notable among these is the 5KVA Solar Photovoltaic Power System, an entirely in-house innovation by students and staff of the College of Engineering, developed to supplement electricity supply within the college
Notably, our academic staff’s collective excellence has earned ABUAD repeated recognition as a leading university in Nigeria, number 3 in Africa and 84th globally and in recent rankings, underscoring the quality of teaching and mentorship that defines us.
On this World Teachers’ Day, I salute our dedicated faculty. You are the torchbearers who ignite passion in our students and the architects who shape the destiny of our nation. To our students, I remind you that your curiosity, discipline, and engagement fuel this collaboration and elevate our university’s mission.
As we celebrate the day marked globally on the 5th of October each year which is also divinely orchestrated as my birthday, let us renew our resolve to deepen partnerships between teachers and learners, ensuring that ABUAD continues to shine as a citadel of excellence, innovation, and transformative education.
Happy World Teachers’ Day!
