Today, we are honoured to host Dr. Tijani Mandaka, Assistant Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), representing the distinguished Professor Fatima Kyari—the Council’s first female Registrar—who graciously honoured us with her presence just a few months ago, despite her demanding schedule.
Celebrating Our Inductees
To our newly qualified doctors, congratulations on reaching this pivotal milestone. Your unwavering dedication and resilience have brought you to this moment. We acknowledge that some of you faced the challenge of resitting MBBS examinations, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and determination to overcome academic hurdles. Your success today is a testament to your tenacity and commitment to the medical profession.
You are now esteemed ambassadors of ABUAD’s medical program, and we are immensely proud of your achievements.
ABUAD’s Commitment to Excellence
Since the inception of our medical program in 2011, ABUAD has maintained uninterrupted academic sessions, fostering collaborations with renowned institutions like Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA. Our ultramodern simulation laboratories, the Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital (AMSH), and a dedicated faculty ensure the highest quality of medical education and training.
Our Chancellor’s vision has been instrumental in establishing state-of-the-art facilities, including a Fertility Centre commissioned earlier this year. Our hospital boasts of 17 dialysis machines and three MRI scanners operating simultaneously—the only one in Nigeria with such capacity. This commitment positions ABUAD’s medical services among the finest in sub-Saharan Africa, earning us the highest admission quota among Nigeria’s 48 medical colleges as of February 2024.
Appreciation
We express our profound gratitude to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, under the leadership of Professor Fatima Kyari, for their unwavering commitment to quality, which has propelled ABUAD’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences to prominence.
Special recognition goes to the Provost of the College, Professor Laofe Ogundipe, whose exemplary leadership and commitment to academic excellence have been pivotal in steering the College towards this remarkable achievement. We also commend the collective efforts of our Deans, Faculty Members, and Consultants.
Your relentless dedication, mentorship, and perseverance have culminated in today’s success, transforming challenges into triumphs and restoring hope where it was once uncertain
To Our Parents and Guardians
We deeply appreciate your confidence in entrusting us with the education and mentorship of your wards. Their success today is a testament to your unwavering support and the collaborative efforts of our academic community.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I urge you all to remember our Chancellor’s advice:
“You must be kind to your patients. You must love them, share in their pains, and provide them comfort. Let them feel that they can still make it. Give them that hope.” —Aare Afe Babalola, January 22, 2025
Once again, welcome to Afe Babalola University—a beacon of quality education and transformative medical training.
God bless you all.
Thank you.
Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCArb., FCAI.
