The Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Prof. E. Smaranda Olarinde, FCIArb, FCAI, has charged the university’s newly recruited security operatives to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
She delivered this charge during the passing-out parade of 34 new security operatives held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the College of Science. Prof. Olarinde reiterated the institution’s commitment to maintaining high standards and its zero tolerance for unprofessional conduct.
“You are here today after a thorough screening process, which is a testament to your dedication and capability,” she remarked. She emphasized that cultivating a positive attitude and a strong work ethic would help them excel in their chosen field.
“Some of you had little or no knowledge of security operations before joining us,” she continued, “but today, you stand as well-trained security officers, ready to take on your duties with excellence.“
In his address, ABUAD’s Acting Chief Security Officer, Lt. Col. Ogunlakin Emmanuel (Rtd.), revealed that the recruitment process began on April 16, 2024, with the first batch of seven personnel resuming duty at the ABUAD Inn on December 15, 2024. The second batch joined on January 2, 2025.
“The operatives have undergone extensive training in areas such as fire control, drug and explosive detection, operational protocols, among many other theoretical, practical and applied trainings.” Ogunlakin stated.
Out of the 225 applicants, only 34 operatives successfully completed the rigorous physical and professional training.
While thanking the university for the successful exercise, the supervisors and training officers, commended the operatives for their dedication and commitment throughout the process.
Let us experience a higher level of commitment, ethical conduct and professionalism of our security personnel!
