ABUAD’S Vice-Chancellor Rejoices, as Law Students’ Society Wins LAWSAN National Moot & Mock Championship, 2024

The Law Students’ Society of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), has once again proven its mettle by emerging victorious at the Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma D. Uzodinma 2024 LAWSAN National Moot & Mock Championship, held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Imo State University, Owerri. 

Adding to the institution’s accolades, Mr. Ayodeji Asala, a 500-level law student and President of ABUAD’s Law Students’ Society, was named Best Advocate for his outstanding legal acumen and advocacy skills.  

This back-to-back victory underscores ABUAD’s commitment to legal excellence, successfully defending its 2023 title with a stellar performance. 

In a congratulatory message dated December 8, 2025, ABUAD’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elisabeta Smaranda Olarinde, FCAI, FCArb, described the accomplishment as “incredible” and a reflection of the university’s commitment to excellence. She attributed the success to the vision and guidance of the Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Emmanuel Babalola (SAN).

“On behalf of the leadership of this great citadel of learning, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the society, the college, and most especially the bright students for making us proud.”

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Ayodeji Asala acknowledged the immense support received from the university leadership, the Founder and Chancellor, Provost of the College of Law, Prof. Tunde Yebisi, and the Law College Lecturers, particularly Emmanuel Utebor Esq. “We remain grateful for the opportunity to represent the University at the National Level, as we brought laurels home,” he said.

The competition featured top law students from across Nigeria, judged on criteria such as; knowledge of the law, eloquence, presentation, and argumentation. ABUAD’s team of eleven (11) law students excelled in all these areas, demonstrating their dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence, further cementing ABUAD’s reputation as a leader in legal education in Nigeria and beyond.
